Ultrastar DC HC550 : High density storage
The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC550 18Tb hard drive is especially dedicated to professionals for use in data centres. Indeed, this 3.5″ hard drive for companies has many advantages for a server use such as its RVS anti-vibration technology, a load of 550 TB/year and an MTBF of 2.5 million hours.
Available in capacities from 10TB, the DC HC500 Series can be used for enterprise servers, backup systems, cloud and enterprise NAS that require 4096-byte (4Kn) sector size for high performance and high density storage with HelioSeal technology.
DESIGNED FOR DATA CENTRES
The Ultrastar DC HC550 features multi-axis shock sensor technology that automatically detects and compensates for even the smallest shocks to protect the data stored on the Ultrastar DC HC550, and is equipped with RAID-specific features such as error recovery time that is reduced through the hard drive’s error recovery processes. Ramp load/unload technology moves the recording heads away from the platters when the drive is not in use and when powering down, ensuring less wear and tear on the recording heads and media.
